VR Headset Market to Hit $1B in Revenue in 2016

There is no doubt that VR made it big in the last year, and has influenced the growth in technology vastly. According to many researchers, the VR headsets are expected to hit $895M by the end of this year. Though, you might think that devices like Oculus, Sony and HTC might be first when it comes to sales per unit, they only take 13% of the overall sales. This might be because of the high prices, that are not affordable to everyone or simply because they have advance usage. But, of course, more than 77% of the estimated sum of approximately $895M is made of sales from the devices above.

On the other hand, when it comes to sales in volume the smartphones used in VR will for sure dominate in units sold, as of the affordability and ease of usage. The expectations predict this unit will sell more than 10.5M units, although the end of the year predicted numbers won’t be really effected by them as much when compared to VR headsets. This though is expected to turn around as the year goes. With more improved technology being used in the smartphone based VR devices, it is predicted they will become the new and effective generations of VR equipment.

Analysis also predict that VR computer gaming devices will sell nearly 1.7M, which is quite lower and unexpected, as more and more VR devices are starting to be implemented in the gaming world. Many experts see great opportunity of implementation of VR devices in gaming, as this will make the whole experience more real and exciting.

The numbers are showing how much the VR reality is starting to interfere with reality, and the numerous benefits that can be used in live. With such a power selling year VR devices have had, and the fact that more work and effort being put into development of new devices, it is safe to save the era of VR has finally come upon us.
