With its performance and unique design, waiting – to- be – released Project Morpheus (Playstation VR), a virtual reality (VR) system ment to be used with the PlayStation 4, is a serious competition to the Oculus Rift.
Using this progressive Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. product will make virtual reality on the PS4 amazing. With PSVR, already available to game developers, players will feel as though they are inside the virtual world of a game.
Unique virtual reality experience is delivered by head-mounted display working along with Play Station Camera. This allows the image of the virtual world to move in real-time as the player’s head rotates. To achieve real sensation of being “inside the game”, players can use PlayStation Move Motion Controller to materialize weapons or other objects in their hands.
The technology applied to Morpheus will also allow user to see his own hands with holding object in virtual world.
Playstation VR Headset is equipped with a five-inch 1080p screen and it covers 90-degree perspective. Rotating image is provided by a set of accelerometers and gyroscopes inside Morpheus.

Same as image rotates depending on head orientation, sounds that players hear change in real-time forming a perfectly realistic audio environment.
Although Project Morpheus is promising technology and dream of every serious gamer in the world, Sony wouldn’t release whet exactly it will be available. Playstation VR price range of the final version is unknown.
According to Sony, there is still work to be done when it comes to image reproduction but they are determined to fix this up before Morpheus comes to market. Playstation president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida confirms that the company is still making changes to the hardware and he is ruling out the 2014 release.
When it comes to a price, it can’t be told how much gamers will have to spend on this amazing kit. A second rerun of Morpheus development kit costs $350 for developers. Consumer version is presumably to be around $300-$500, considering the quality of the headset and the VR sense. Some speculations have even put it in that the Project Morpheus kit wil cost $1,000. Yoshida has deny this, and remarked that the headset will be priced as Sony prices other gaming hardware. The company will try to keep kit achievable, bearing in mind that some consumers need to buy PlayStation Move controllers as well.
Those who were lucky enough to have hands-on PSVR, could enjoy exclusive technology demo such as EVE Valkyrie (CCP), a multiplayer dogfighting shooter, “Thief” (SQUARE ENIX Co., LTD.), “The Castle” (SCE) and “The Deep” (SCE).
Considering it’s performance Playstation VR Headset could have wider use, not just for a gaming. Dr. Richard Marks from Sony Magic Lab is on project of a Mars simulator in accordance with Jet Propulsion Lab in NASA. They wanted to use images and data from the Curiosity rover to create Mars’ virtual reality.
